In-Person Care: Labs, Physical Test and Imaging Where and When You Need It

So you’ve had a virtual visit either via video or chat with a Nice Provider - what’s next?

Most of the time, your provider will be able to gather the necessary information needed to formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan after the virtual visit. A broad range of health conditions can successfully be diagnosed and treated through a virtual visit with a Nice provider. However, there are some instances where providers need to gather more information to assist in formulating a diagnosis and developing a customized treatment plan.

For example, a Nice provider may need to look in your ears, listen to your lungs, obtain rapid tests or request lab work. One of the highlights of in-person care is that the Nice provider comes to you at a location that is most convenient for you - be it home or work.

Are ou eligible?

  • Your employer must be enrolled in Nice’s full suite of services. Check with your benefits administrator if you are unsure of your service level.

  • You must be within our in-person visit service areas, or be able to meet a clinician at a location within our service areas.

How are In-Person Visits Scheduled?

If an in-person visit is necessary, Nice will proceed in scheduling the in-person visit. There are several factors that affect when the in-person visit occurs:

  • The time-sensitivity of your health condition

  • Our in-person visit availability

  • Your schedule and availability

Acuity refers to the degree to which your condition requires timely care. For time-sensitive sick visits, we aim to see patients in-person anywhere from a couple hours to a couple days. For those health needs that are less time sensitive (or address issues that are chronic in nature), such as a wellness visit, an in-person visit can occur anywhere from 1-3 weeks. If you have impending deadlines or scheduling preferences - we can work with you on a case-by-case basis. If you only require labs or imaging specifically, we may work with 3rd party vendors for those services. Our care coordinators make sure we find the right time that is convenient for you.

What to Expect The Day of Your In-Person Visit:

You can expect to see a Nice provider in a white lab coat with a Nice logo embroidered on it along with their bag of supplies at the address you have selected. They will take the baton from the virtual clinician and carry out the necessary examinations or tests that are needed to get a clearer clinical picture, perform a procedure or administer a medication that will get you on your path to health.

How to Prepare for Your In-Person Visit

  • Ensure you provide a well-lit private or semi-private area with a chair and a table/flat surface for yourself and the clinician.

  • For safety reasons, we ask that you put your pets away temporarily while the visit is being conducted and refrain from smoking.

  • For imaging services (x-ray, EKG, etc.) your location should require no more than 4 stairs to accommodate the heavy machinery.

  • Please put away firearms and weapons, restrain pets and refrain from smoking/vaping during your visit.

Things to remember:

  • In-person visits occur during the week (Monday to Friday).

  • Patients can only schedule in-person visits after an initial virtual visit. Patients do not need virtual visits between in-person follow up visits, though your clinician will chat with you between visits to get updates on your condition.

  • In-person visits can be multi-person visits if you and/or your benefits eligible dependents need care at the same time. Please coordinate with your clinician during your initial virtual visit.

  • If needed, an interpreter service may be provided to make communication between you and your clinician easier in any language.
